4. Followers, employees and community
Follower count is useful context, but it is not a strategy and it is not an adequate measure of reputation.
Key point: relevant followers and informed employee participation matter more than headline follower count.
Grow the right audience
For a B2B Page, 2,000 relevant followers can be more valuable than 20,000 disconnected followers. Audience quality matters because the Page exists to build familiarity and credibility with people connected to the organisation’s real markets.

Employee participation
Employees can materially strengthen a Company Page because organisations are experienced through people. The aim, however, should not be to turn employees into a distribution network that is expected to like and share every corporate post.
Better employee participation comes from making it easier for knowledgeable people to contribute ideas, context and expertise. Give employees reasons to engage rather than instructions to engage.
Build a repeatable contribution model
Useful approaches include:
- regular subject-matter interviews;
- simple internal prompts for ideas and evidence;
- clear guidance on when employees are free to add their own perspective;
- recognition of employee expertise in company content;
- leadership participation where it genuinely adds context.
The Company Page and employee profiles should reinforce one another without becoming identical copies of the same voice.
Comments are part of publishing
A post is not finished when it goes live. Where people respond, the organisation has an opportunity to acknowledge questions, add useful detail, correct misunderstandings and demonstrate how it behaves in public.
This is one reason Company Page management cannot be reduced to scheduling software.
