LinkedIn® News & Analysis featured image: LinkedIn Company Page verification expands

LinkedIn® is making Company Page verification available to more organisations, giving businesses another way to demonstrate that the Page people find on LinkedIn is the organisation’s official presence.

The important distinction is that verification is not the same as having a Premium Company Page. Premium can make a Page eligible to request verification, but LinkedIn still reviews the organisation before awarding a verification badge.

TL;DR

LinkedIn® Company Page verification confirms that a Page represents the official organisation. Paid Premium Company Pages, and Pages with recurring commercial products such as LinkedIn Ads or Jobs, are eligible to request verification. Eligibility does not guarantee approval. LinkedIn checks information about the organisation and may require proof that it controls the website associated with the Page. Once a Page is verified, it can also enable eligible employees to verify their workplace association.

What is LinkedIn® Company Page verification?

A verified LinkedIn Page receives a verification badge indicating that LinkedIn has confirmed, using objective criteria, that the Page represents the official organisation.

LinkedIn is equally clear about what the badge does not mean. Verification does not guarantee that everything published by the organisation is accurate, and it is not an endorsement by LinkedIn.

That makes Page verification primarily an authenticity signal: it helps a member distinguish the organisation’s official Page from an unofficial, duplicate or potentially misleading presence.

Who is eligible?

LinkedIn says Pages with an established commercial relationship with the platform can be eligible. This includes paid Premium Company Pages and Pages using recurring commercial products such as LinkedIn Ads or Jobs.

Other Pages may also become eligible based on factors including meaningful activity and engagement on LinkedIn. Eligible Pages will see verification controls within the desktop super admin experience.

There is an important caveat: eligibility is permission to request verification, not a guarantee that LinkedIn will grant it.

Premium Company Page does not mean verified

This is probably the easiest part of the change to misunderstand.

A Premium Company Page displays LinkedIn’s gold Premium logo because the organisation has a paid Premium Company Page subscription. A verification badge has a different purpose: it indicates that LinkedIn has confirmed that the Page represents the official organisation.

Purchasing a paid Premium Company Page subscription automatically makes the Page eligible to request verification, but the verification process still has to be completed successfully.

How do you request verification?

An eligible Page super admin can request verification from the desktop experience by opening Settings → Verification controls → Request verification.

LinkedIn asks for the organisation’s legal business name, website URL and business address. The website must accurately represent the organisation associated with the LinkedIn Page.

LinkedIn says the initial process is largely automated. Depending on the outcome, the Page may then be asked to complete additional steps to prove ownership of the organisation’s website. Verification requests can take several days to complete, and LinkedIn advises admins to monitor the Admin Dashboard for updates.

Why website ownership matters

The connection between the LinkedIn Page and the organisation’s own website is significant.

A Company Page is a platform presence. The organisation’s website is an asset it controls. By using the website and domain as part of the verification process, LinkedIn can establish a stronger relationship between the organisation represented on LinkedIn and its independent web presence.

For businesses managing their LinkedIn presence seriously, that is another reason the Company Page, website and wider digital identity should contain consistent organisational information.

Verification can extend to employees

Page verification can also support workplace verification.

Once a Company Page is verified, super admins can enable eligible members to verify their association with the organisation using an approved work email domain. A successful workplace verification is then shown in the member’s About this profile information.

This creates an interesting trust chain: the organisation can establish an official Page, and people associated with that organisation can establish a verified workplace connection.

Why this matters for businesses

Company Pages increasingly do more than distribute posts. They are part of the evidence somebody encounters when researching a business, its employees, its expertise and whether the organisation appears to be what it claims to be.

Verification therefore fits into a wider approach to LinkedIn® Company Pages as reputation infrastructure.

The badge by itself will not create trust. A poorly maintained verified Page is still a poorly maintained Page. But verification adds another piece of evidence alongside accurate company information, active administration, useful content, identifiable employees and a credible website.

What should Company Page admins do?

If you manage a paid Premium Company Page, or your organisation uses eligible recurring LinkedIn commercial products, check Settings → Verification controls from the desktop super admin view.

Before requesting verification, make sure the Page’s organisation name, website and location information are accurate and consistent with the organisation’s website.

If verification is available, it is difficult to see a reason for a legitimate organisation not to complete it. It is a relatively small administrative step that adds another authenticity signal to the organisation’s LinkedIn presence.
