An Introduction to the Dreamers on LinkedIn
Some LinkedIn users, I call them “dreamers,” are here for influence and validation without a clear goal. I don’t use dreamers as a derogatory term.
They post regularly, focus on building a strong personal brand, and often mimic influencer behavior seen across social media platforms. While they may not have a tangible business or career objective, they are driven by the desire to be seen, admired, and validated.
This group tends to focus on visibility for its own sake, and while their content might generate engagement, it’s not always built on providing real value. It’s important to recognize this group because their motivations are often more about self-promotion than contributing to the professional space.
This may not be permanent. They may eventually discover a Transactional Reason or Intangible Motivator for using LinkedIn. But until they know they’re really using LinkedIn I can’t really offer them any in-depth advice.
This one page is all space I’m prepared to give to them…
